Oh? Who had been assigned to him this time?

It was dusk. The GALARIAN AMBASSADOR stood at the wooden gates preceding a farmstead, just outside OLDALE TOWN. The townsfolk had rallied to commission the League in the defense of the farmer who once called this place home. A pack of vicious MIGHTYENA had apparently taken it over nearly a week ago.

"You must be my partner on this endeavor," Remiel speaks, Galarian accent wholly present as he steps forward and reaches out for a handshake. "Remiel Calcifet , at your service. This is Adal." He adds, gesturing towards the DUSK FORME LYCANROC by his side with a nod.

It looks up at the girl with calm, curious eyes. It takes a sniff, pausing to remember her smell before turning back towards the farmstead afar. The pungent scent of blood was distracting.

Not just a Rocket executive, not just the Galarian ambassador, but a member of the royal family.

The sole sight of him reminds her of everything her father used to say back when she was a kid, of how some days he had only love for the royal family and others he seemed to loathe them more than anything. It makes her sick.

But, Remiel Calcifet would not see this.

What he’d see instead is a bright and even somewhat sweet smile, warm eyes of a delightful umber shade wandering from executive to pokémon and then back to him again.

”Ceri Glynn. It’s a pleasure to be working with you.” Every word is spoken in the way someone from northern Galar would speak them, no changes having been made to her intonations no matter how many years she has spent in Hoenn. She knows he’ll probably notice it, but she doesn’t acknowledge it. ”Nice Lycanroc. How should we proceed?”

Being that he’s her superior in Team Rocket’s hierarchy, he’s in charge here. What a shame.

A gleam of realization passes by his eyes, but it fades just as quickly. Her accent certainly doesn't go unnoticed afterwards. But it seems that's conversation for later.

"I don't know," Remiel responds, casting a look at the farmstead. "What do you suggest?"

He was still higher on the hierarchy to her as an EXECUTIVE, of course. Even if his status as ADMIN was hidden behind the alter ego known as THE FOX. But, outside of Rocket HQ and during private assignments such as these, he much preferred collaboration.

Bossing people around was exhausting work.

Ceri has never cared much for fieldwork. It doesn’t suit her at all; she’s not particularly athletic, nor is she a particularly good trainer, and most of the time she most certainly would rather not expose herself to sudden danger. Her adventures of choice are usually in the lab, thank you very much.

Too bad that there are particularly nasty assignments like this one. Which, if she were religious at all, would have her praying not to get bit by a rabid dog.

”Uhmm…” To make matters worse, he leaves her to decide what they should do, and Ceri can’t help but wonder if he really doesn’t know or if this is the sort of silly test higher ups sometimes like to pull. ”We could send a pokémon to have a look from above, but they’re probably hiding out in a barn or so. Cornering them could work, but that’s as long as we know where they are, and I guess the rest depends on if you want to lure them out of the farm or get rid of them.”

The royal listens to Ceri's suggestions well, weighing options in his mind, then turning to her with a nod when she makes her inquiry. "That's right. Adal has pointed out the barn as their den. Though the farmstead itself is apparently housing a few."

Did his cousin really know what she was getting into, however? She'd been in Hoenn longer than he had. He trusted that she did, as a result, but one couldn't be sure. Ceri was younger, after all, and the intrinsic need to look after her was already setting root in his behaviour.

"There are bound to be corpses inside either. Are you prepared for that? Or would you prefer to stay out here and set a trap while I draw them out?"

Does Remiel Calcifet think she’s a helpless child? Does he think she’s not ready for this or that she didn’t know what she signed up for when she joined Team Rocket?

Ceri is all too used to being underestimated because her age, because of how she looks, because of how she acts, and because of the mere fact that she’s a woman, so when he asks her if she’s prepared for what’s to come, she simply looks at him – blinking as if confused and tilting her head slightly.

A polite way of implying that his question is silly.

”It would be mean of me to let you go in there alone, right?” Then again, it would be less work for her, but making a good impression with higher ups matters even when they’re stupid royals who spark horrible memories in her head. So, she pretends, giving Remiel the sweetest smile ever. ”No worries! I’ll go in with you!”

She even reaches for one of her signature Heal Balls, calling out her Crobat to provide aerial support.
